Name: Taylor Ray
Age: 12
Sport & Organization: Jiu Jitsu - Alliance Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Carlsbad
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Scholarship Date: January 1, 2018

Taylor was introduced to Jiu Jitsu in 2017 by her brother and now shares a love of the sport with the entire family. Training at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu of Carlsbad, Taylor has increased her discipline and confidence, which in turn has helped her athletic and academic abilities to blossom.

Finding strength as a leader has been one of the gifts Taylor has received from showing up on her mat. Studying and practicing law are now goals that she is determined to achieve through continued hard work and good grades.

Taylor was nominated by her father, Joshua Ray, who joined the Marine Corps to serve his country after 9/11 before Taylor was born. The second oldest child among several siblings, Taylor knows the value and importance of looking out for others while also pursuing personal goals.

The Randy Jones Foundation grant will help keep me doing my sport and focused on getting my schoolwork done. I want to get into a good college and become a lawyer someday and this grant can help me get there. (Taylor Ray)
